Nothing says party like  pontoon boats.  There's something about seeing that wide-open canopied deck that makes you want to share it with your friends on an afternoon cruise. Whatever your water pleasure,  pontoon boats give you the enjoyment of fishing, water skiing, swimming, or simply cruising on your favorite lake or river. 

The hull of  pontoon boats are constructed of at least three round tubes (called sponsons or pontoons) that are attached to the bottom side of the large square deck and can be anywhere from 16' to 22' in length.  The sponsons are usually tapered at the forward ends and attached to the deck in an aluminum frame.  The deck, itself, can be made out of aluminum, wood or fiberglass, and will hold 6 to 12 people. 

For safety, the deck of  pontoon boats is generally surrounded on all sides with a safety railing.  Based on personal preference, you have your choice of having the helm station in the middle of the deck or off to one side.  Outboard gasoline Marine engines provide the  power, either in the two-or four-cycle versions. 

The versatility of  pontoon boats means fun for everyone in the family.  The amenities and options available, such as, boat enclosures and tops that will cover the entire boat, furniture, appliances, and storage containers, can literally turn your pontoon boat into a vacation house boat.  

Pontoon boats are more stable than the average fishing boat and you will not only have a better sense of security that you will be able to invite more friends that you could with a standard fishing boat.  With that said, it is important to keep in mind that pontoon boats are not stable on large bodies of water, exposed to waves over two feet in height.  It is especially dangerous to attempt to use one on the ocean. These boats are meant for relatively calm, protected, inland bodies of water.Pricing is comparable to an aluminum fishing boat of the same size.
